The Parents Association for the Mentally Handicapped (PAMENCAP), Karimnagar is an association formed by parents Of special persons themselves .
The association has started MANOVIKAS special school for Mentally Handicapped) in July 1988 with only 3 children at the residence of Sri K. Balakishan Rao, Secretary.

National Institute for the Mentaly Handicaped (NIMH - A Premier Research Institute Under Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India), Secundrabad can be called mother of parents movement in India. Dr.D.K. Menon, the then  Director, NIMH and other staff members have lent all the needed    support in formation and registration of PAMENCAP under the A.P. (Telangana Areas) Public Societies Registration Act 1350 Fasli (Act 1 of 1350 F). Our Association Registered under Registration No. 2806 of 1988.

We seek guidance from present Director Dr. T.C.Shivakumar and staff of NIMH, who are always ready to help us.  NIMH team have also visited our school many times during past 22 years for organizing parent workshops and seminars in our school and Karimnagar town.

Our association is totally committed to the development of our special children and their families as well.  Many of our teaching staff and special educators are parents. 

Achivements So Far         

  • We are successful in bringing about awareness among parents in Karimnagar area
  • They have felt the necessary of coming together for improving the lot of their special children

  • We have started MANOVIKAS Special School for mentally challenged persons on

  •  July 1988 with only 3 children. The school is now catering to the needs of 70 children

  • We have started MANOVKAS Vocational Centre on 1st Aug 2001. We are now training 24 adult mentally challenged persons in Door mat making, Cot tape making, Detergent powder, Dish wash powder, Mini floor mill, Greeting card making and Spices Powder Manufacturing.

  • We have started MANOVIKAS Early Intervention Centre in Aug 2001. We are helping parents of children in 0-6 years age group in achieving mile stones such as lifting head, making eye contact, sitting, crawling and walking in our Early Intervention centre

  • We have conducted many awareness programmes such as workshops, seminars for the benefit of parents

  • We have Conducted several medical camps for the benefit of parents & special children

  • Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India is sanctioning Grant-in Aid regularly from 1999

  • Government of Andhra Pradesh has given Half Acre (2420 Square yards) land to our Association, for construction of school buildings
